TASA 2014 Conference Information

 
This year’s 2014 conference will be in downtown Dallas hosted by El Centro Colllege, of the Dallas Community College District. The campus is snuggled between skyscrapers and iconic architecture of the Dallas skyline.

This year’s conference theme: “Off Center” aims to explore the evolving dynamics, and relevance of Texas as an “off center” center of contemporary art between California and New York. The term off center also describes the specific flavor of Texas art, and is a play on words used to also describe the new challenges and approaches required from art educators during these times of social and educational change.

During the conference, attendees will have access to the Dallas Museum District. With three world class museums all in one setting: from contemporary sculpture, masterworks, to ancient artifacts of the Far East. Downtown Dallas also has historical and science museums that are all within a five mile radius.

The location of the conference, the host campus, and hotels are all downtown. Entertainment is either a short walk, or a 5 to 10 min ride away. For example, The West End Historic District, a pedestrian friendly mix of shopping, dining and entertainment, and Victory Park, a modern example of an upscale urban complex with street-front retailers and restaurants...
